Why Environmental Data is Critical for Your Daily Health

In today’s world, the air we breathe and the sun we bask in can directly impact our longevity and quality of life. AirQ Health Map was created to democratize environmental intelligence. We aggregate three powerful data sources—Air Quality, Pollen, and UV Radiation—to give you a holistic view of the outdoor environment, helping you make smarter decisions for you and your family.

1. The Air Quality Index (AQI) Demystified

The AQI is like a "health bar" for the air outside. It ranges from 0 (clean) to 500 (hazardous). But what do these numbers actually mean for your body?

Good (0-50): Air quality is satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no risk. Enjoy your outdoor run!
Moderate (51-100): Acceptable. However, for some pollutants, there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of unusually sensitive individuals.
Unhealthy for Sensitive (101-150): Members of sensitive groups (children, elderly, asthmatics) may experience health effects. The general public is not likely to be affected.
Unhealthy (151-200): Everyone may begin to experience health effects. Members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects. Avoid prolonged outdoor exertion.

2. The Allergy Master Guide: Pollen Counts

3. UV Index: The Silent Skin Aggressor

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun is a major cause of skin cancer and premature aging. Most people only check the temperature before going out, completely ignoring the UV index.

Our UV widget pulls data from OpenUV, giving you precise readings. When the UV index is 8 or above, skin damage can occur in less than 10 minutes. By checking our dashboard, you will know exactly what sunscreen SPF to apply and whether you need a hat.
